The promotion of the hackathon was two-pronged:
- To attract participants each ESS National Statistical Institute was invited to nominate one or two teams to compete in this hackathon. Each team was composed of three members who were staff of the statistical office, members of the national data science community or a partnership of both.
- For promoting the outcome of the hackathon, a dedicated Twitter account was used. Even more importantly, the NSIs served as multipliers. Examples include advertising the event on Facebook and Twitter, and creating a dedicated page on the NSI website and publishing press releases.
