Measuring Migration

NTTS 2017 satellite event in Brussels, 13 March 2017 (14:00-18:00)

Organisers: Loredana Di Consiglio and Giampaolo Lanzieri, Eurostat

Chair: Giampaolo Lanzieri, Eurostat

Migration is on the increase as a result of globalisation, geopolitical changes and many other factors.  New needs for informing policy on migration, integration and related topics are rapidly emerging. At the same time, new opportunities in terms of information sources (such as mobile phone and social media data) are becoming available.

The objectives of this half-day event is to explore the challenges in measuring migration phenomena from the perspective of official statistics and to discuss the potential for (and limitations of) integration of the various available information sources.
