The AES-questionnaire is subdivided into the following sections:
- individual information;
- looking up information on learning opportunities;
- participation in education and training: formal and non-formal;
- difficulties related to participation in education and training;
- informal learning;
- internet and computer use;
- knowledge of languages;
- income.
The target population is restricted to people aged 25 to 64.
The reference period for the learning activities is the last 12 months before the interview.
Proxy answers were not allowed. Respondents have the choice to answer using an online web survey (CAWI) or a paper questionnaire. Together with the paper questionnaire, a post prepaid envelope is provided to the respondent. For the internet version of the questionnaire, a note with guidelines how to log-in etc. is given to all selected respondents.
