Social exclusion affects the individuals and the communities in various ways and the starting point it is not poverty, as usually thought, but the social non-integration caused by the lack of jobs, possible familial disfunctionalities, discrimination, intolerance, etc. The social exclusion of individuals or categories of individuals has numerous causes and refers to a wide variety of aspects, facts that usually transferred from one generation to another.
As an UE member state, Romania applied the methodology for estimation of poverty recommended by Eurostat, in parallel with developing a national system based on an absolute method of poverty estimation.
The objective of the survey is to calculate the social inclusion indicators.
