Abstract

The SIAB is a 2% random sample of individual accounts drawn from the Integrated Employment Biographies (IEB) of the IAB. The IEB in turn unite data from five different data sources, each of which may contain information from different administrative procedures. The IEB consist of all individuals in Germany, which are characterized by at least one of the following employment statuses:

- employment subject to social security (since 1975)
- marginal part-time employment (since 1999)
- benefit receipt according to the German Social Code III or II (since 1975 and 2005 respectively)
- officially registered as job-seeking at the German Federal Employment Agency
- (planned) participation in programs of active labour market policies (in the data since 2000)

Data cover individual’s employment and benefit receipt history as well as their job search history and goes back to 1975.
